Hilton Head Thanksgiving

Far away from our west coast families, Joel and I spent Thanksgiving in Hilton Head with friends. We planned to stay one night and wound up staying three. We couldn't leave! I don't consider myself a pack animal but I could have rolled around with those buddies forever, sippin' bourbon and playin' games. That was one hell of a friendsgiving, Petersons!

Besticorns

We had a Halloween party and we really went for it. Sweet Becca helped us with Styrofoam horns and we made a big nasty bowl of jungle juice. As usual, Blake danced the hardest and brought down the most streamers.

Telluride Wedding

Zack and Alia got married this weekend. The wedding was outside Telluride on a ranch at the base of Wilson Peak. The same one from the Coors can.

The ceremony was the kind that made you weep. The bride and groom were gazing at each other with big, deep, serious love and everyone felt it. We all changed into jeans later on and danced danced in a big white tent with jalapeno margaritas.

Double Blue Birthday

Blake and I had a birthday party. It was quite possibly the best party I've ever thrown. Things got funky. We danced and DANCED. Blake took a champagne shower. There were TWO ROUNDS OF LIMBO. With all the stomping and woohooo-ing we nearly brought the house down.

The next morning there were balloons in the trees down the block and the floors were oh so sticky. There's really nothing better.

Rainy Brunch

On Sunday we were supposed to float the river but we woke up to a black sky and cool weather. SO we made brunch instead. We really went all out—fresh cut flowers! Bacon! Pineapple!

*Ben accidentally took my memory card with him. I've been without a camera for the last week. Fingers crossed it comes today in the mail.

Play

The beauty of the trip is that we can literally do anything we want—whenever we want. Roll out of bed and jump in the water? Sure. Read a whole novel in one sitting? Yep. Handstand contest at the bar? Absolutely. We're all just playing. All day. It's glorious.

Ps. There are baby goats everywhere. They are cozy too. You can snuggle them.

Family Portraits

Last night I hosted a family dinner party on the porch. Damnit I love these people! Dinner was outrageously good and so was the raucous game of catchphrase afterwards. There was hysterical laughing and SO MANY CURSE WORDS. My poor neighbors.

Also we took THIS HILARIOUS PHOTO. I think it's funny that Tim isn't even looking at the camera.

Brunswick to Baja !

This summer, Ben is riding his bicycle across the country for Sidewalk Chalk with his friend Jason. He's calling it BRUNSWICK TO BAJA. And TONIGHT he is hosting a big silent auction to raise money. Art on Wheels at the Charleston City Gallery. Come!

Ben has been talking about the silent auction for six months and now today is the day. He's scrambling around with easels and bidding sheets with a nervous smile on his face. Here we go!

Dinner Party

I was groomed to throw dinner parties from a VERY young age. I was pondering over lighting, seating, and guest counts before I learned long-division.

This particular dinner party was perfect. We laughed and drank and cozied up next to one another into the wee hours.

Taking Time

Like I said, I have a lot of time on my hands right now. I've always thrown little dinner parties (BECAUSE THEY'RE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING) but it's always a mad rush to cook, clean, and set a table.

This time I took it slow. I drank wine and listened to music while I cooked. When everyone arrived, the kitchen was clean and dinner was in the oven. What a difference it makes.
