Hilton Head Thanksgiving

Far away from our west coast families, Joel and I spent Thanksgiving in Hilton Head with friends. We planned to stay one night and wound up staying three. We couldn't leave! I don't consider myself a pack animal but I could have rolled around with those buddies forever, sippin' bourbon and playin' games. That was one hell of a friendsgiving, Petersons!

Besticorns

We had a Halloween party and we really went for it. Sweet Becca helped us with Styrofoam horns and we made a big nasty bowl of jungle juice. As usual, Blake danced the hardest and brought down the most streamers.

Velocity Basin

Over the holiday weekend we camped out of Silverton in a big land-bowl called Velocity Basin. I've never been anywhere like this NOR have I climbed mountains quite so high. We swam in that turquoise alpine lake and Tutti hunted marmots until she was hysterical.

Charleston soon. I'll have superman lungs when I get to sea-level.

Bachelorette on a Pony

I have this new Durango friend and she invited me to her bachelorette pony ride. We shared champagne out of the bottle and I rode a horse called Diamond. A ride through an aspen grove on a summer afternoon with a bunch of girls ! YEAH!

At the end there were four stripped-down and whiskyed-up cowboys doing a provocative dance routine. Quite the surprise. Wedding this weekend !

Washington !

I dig Washington. It's green and rainy and smells like dirt. Joel is from a cozy little town outside Seattle and THIS IS HIS DRIVEWAY.

It's been a great week. I went to my first bachelor party, scored an aggressive whiffle ball game, drank hip coffee in Portland, and tonight we're going to a wedding. We've heard there will be science experiments and ping pong.

Blake + Olivia's

I took the ol' San Diego-Seattle-Miami-Charleston red eye and here I am. Blake and Olivia are in Austin and I am house-sitting their dreamy Queen Street apartment. I was missing Charleston more than I realized and when I stepped of the plane it smelled like lake and summer and trees. It already warm and sultry outside at 6:30 AM but I DON'T MIND A BIT !

Into the Evening

My birthday was slow and sweet. I stayed in bed late, went on a hot hike, jumped into an ICE COLD river, and made dinner for four. The candles blew out in the breeze but we stayed out until we were squinting at each other in the dark. I have those post-birthday-back-to-work blues....

Lemonade

When life gives you lemons, sometimes it also throws in a handsome man to hold your hand. This boy is all fresh air and camping and jokes.

TGIF y'all.

Elise

Elise is my VERY HILARIOUS friend and something of a fixture on Halcyon Yeah. Here, here, and here for example.

Her new blog is called Alt-Agora. She has this great old Leica and her writing is funny. She's about to move to Los Angeles with her brad-pitt-look-alike-husband Tim. So that should be fun to watch.

The Fuzzco Show

Helen and Josh are the parents of Fuzzco and some of Ben and my dearest friends. Almost a decade ago I visited their home office for help on a little project and now they are a successful firm of ten.

Saturday night we had a dinner date and took a walk to the NEW Fuzzco building. It's big and dusty and is about to drastically transform. I am disproportionately excited to watch all the work unfold.

Malibu

My parent's dear old friends live in a beautiful house overlooking the Pacific. And the guestroom is THIS AIRSTREAM. So for the next few nights I am falling asleep to the smell of eucalyptus and—believe it or not—the sound of waves crashing far below. It's good to be in my homestate.

Sleepover

We had a staycation on Kiawah. We swam in the pool, made an apple pie, and listened to loud music. We also had to touch all the sculptures and spent some quality time on that spiral staircase... Yes, for a little while I felt SO FAR AWAY FROM HOME.

*Also. While Tim was cutting apples for the apple pie, notice he's wearing a t-shirt that says 'This City Kills Innocence'. Hilarious, no?

Outtakes

During the PGA week, we spent a lot of time at this house on the Atlantic. Every day we'd park there and then walk the beach to the tournament. At the end of a long (HOT) day of shooting, we'd walk back and jump in the pool or drink some perrier.

It was fun. We got to spend time with Lenny, my favorite austrian gangster ginger playboy.

Family Dinner

I have missed Tim and Elise. Giggling and drinking wine on the porch with them feels like going home.

Yes, the dinner party was marvelous. Elise SURE OUTDID HERSELF with the peach and prosciutto hors d'oeuvre.

The Garden Summer Premiere

The Garden Summer premiered this past February. I finally got the photos back from the TALENTED MR. SULLIVAN and these are a few first-pass favorites.

Also. I'm in New York City for the month. I've been here a week and it feels like it's been a lifetime. More soon.
