The New House

My mom just bought this little 50's cottage and has been furiously fixing it up since February. My brother sneaked video of her dancing with a paintbrush in her hand at 11:30 at night one time. It's not quite there yet but it has made the transition from brown and stinky to fresh and white and airy. The yard is still dirt and the the living room needs a second coat but it smells like gardenia and feels like the family home. There's even a dutch door. SO!

Morning at Home
I snuck home to San Diego on a whim last night. I got in late and I left early but it was worth it. This morning we did what we always do. Porch coffee talk.

chambre de brique
It's small, of course, but there's a great view, a lot of brick, wood floors and an all white, downy queen by the window. The kitchen is no kitchen at all but c'est la vie.

Sunday Rain
On Sunday afternoon it POURED. After a long, leisurely brunch at Olivia's, I came home to a thunder storm deluge, an icy kombucha drink and a book.

T & E's
I spent my the morning of my birthday camped out at Tim and Elise's—quite possibly my favorite place in Charleston. It's a third story with painted red floors, sky lights, and dreamy treehouse rooms.
We drank breakfast vino verde, baked a crisp, and read magazines. Perfect.

Beets Baby
At the farmers market on Saturday I bought three rounds of beets. I don't know what got into me, I just kept buying more—each bunch more glorious than the last.
And we're back on the porch. It's a bit warmer these days but there's still nothing like it. It feels like SUMMER.

Rainy Brunch
On Sunday we were supposed to float the river but we woke up to a black sky and cool weather. SO we made brunch instead. We really went all out—fresh cut flowers! Bacon! Pineapple!
*Ben accidentally took my memory card with him. I've been without a camera for the last week. Fingers crossed it comes today in the mail.

Sweet Home
After 17 hours of travel, we arrived home late last night. This little darling was wiggling ununcontrollably when we came through the door.
I went to sleep still rocking with the motion of the boat after so many days on the ocean.

Family Portraits
Also we took THIS HILARIOUS PHOTO. I think it's funny that Tim isn't even looking at the camera.
