Costa Rica - Cascadas y Piscinas

Well there was this one day that really stood out.

We started the day with fresh mango and papaya for breakfast and then took a long, bumpy jimmy-ride to Montezuma. [Monte'fuma', as they call it, is a tiny hippie beach town on the inlet side of the peninsula. Indeed, the whole town seemed a bit stoned.] We hiked through the jungle to a chain of three waterfalls and swam and jumped our hearts out.

That night we picked up our beloved vacation-friends and drove up to a hilltop overlooking Mal Pais and the mighty Pacific. YES there was an infinity pool and YES there was a BAR IN THE POOL. Pina Coladas for everyone. When the sun went down everyone cheered.

Costa Rica - Quemadura del Sol !

Ahhhhh Pura Vida! Costa Rica was GLORIOUS. Ben and I did some SERIOUS LOUNGING. The weather was warm, the drinks were cold, and the friends were plenty. We read books, napped, watched  the sunset with our toes in the sand, and woke up early each morning to HOWLER MONKEYS. (dear lord I thought a giant baboon was coming to kill me when I heard the howler for the first time. Turns out they're tiny guys, the size of a small dog but with the lung capacity of an elephant)

We went to a little town called Santa Theresa on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. Santa Theresa and neighboring Mal Pais are the surf mecca of Costa Rica. Everyone is happy and tan. It was dreamy. Waterfall and infinity pool photo dump manana.

WE'RE IN COSTA RICA!

YES! WE ARE!  I haven't been on a fly-off-to-some-tropical-destination-with-your-boyfriend trip in a long time ...maybe never. Can't wait to share photos and stories.

Quiet and Clean

IS IT JUST ME OR IS 2012 A DOOZY?  The fall of 2011 plodded along but when January hit MAN THINGS STARTED HAPPENING. Does anyone else feel the same?

Ben and I have had a series of (wonderful) house guests for the last three weeks and it has been fun and busy. I will say, though, how lovely it is to have a clean and quiet house. I've been reveling in it.

Also, see this picture of Ben and I below? These are our PRE-COSTA RICA FACES!

*Sorry for all the caps. I'm terribly excitable and honestly—I'd write everything in caps if I could

Monday Monday

Right now my job is at a stand still and I'll be honest, my days are blissfully free. On Monday I slept in,
took a long walk with Tutti, and then went on a manicure-margarita-porch sitting-frienship marathon
with some of my very favorite people.

Sideshow Press + The Garden Summer

Oh the kindness of friends! For the big premiere last week, my favorite gals at Stitch designed a film poster. They went above and beyond—hand-cutting linen in the shape of the beet and hand-stitching the posters.

Aren't they BEAUTIFUL!?

Aquarium Soiree

Chefs, sommeliers, and foodies have taken over Charleston. Last night marked opening night of the annual Charleston Wine and Food Festival. The grand party was at the aquarium and all the Charleston greats were in attendance.

It was quite a night!  Though one felt very strange dining on fishes while watching the fishes.
